When to book
The American Academy of Dermatology says artificial nails need touch-ups every 2 to 3 weeks to fill gaps as nails grow. Waiting longer lets the set lift. Lifting can trap moisture under the acrylic.
Signs you need one now
- A visible gap at the base of each nail.
- Edges lifting or catching on fabric.
- The nail feels heavy at the tip.
The trade-off
The AAD also notes that frequent touch-ups can damage natural nails. Plan breaks between sets so your nails can recover.
